Marayoor
I am a young student from Marayoor, a remote hilly area where access to basic education is a big challenge. There is no nearby school in our locality, and every day I had to travel a long distance just to attend classes. The roads are difficult, and the journey is tiring and unsafe at times. My parents were deeply worried about my education and future. They wanted me to get a good education, especially in English, but didn’t know how that would be possible from such a remote place. That’s when we came to know about the GEL (Global English Learning) project, organized by Vincentian Social Services. I enrolled in the program and began learning English through structured, step-by-step training. With the support of GEL, I successfully completed A1 and A2 levels of English and am now preparing for B1, B1+, B2, and C1. I can now read, write, and speak English with more ease and confidence. This has helped me in school and in daily communication. My parents feel proud and hopeful, seeing my growth. The GEL project opened a new world for me—right from the heart of a small village like Marayoor. I am truly thankful to Vincentian Social Services for bringing quality education to students like me, even in the most remote corners.
