The housing projects of De Care have helped numerous homeless families find a safe place to live in. With the support of the Vincentian fathers working all over the world and the donor agencies, the organization made many dreams come true. The housing projects attached with the disaster response programs were the result of the cry of the people who either completely or partially lost their homes in sea erosion, floods and landslides. The Puthukudumbam project, Nedungadu housing projects, and Vadakkemala reconstruction programmes were part of the disaster response programs.

VinNest: Rebuilding Homes, Restoring Lives

Vincentian Social Services has consistently been at the forefront of post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Kerala. Recognizing that housing is both a fundamental right and a cherished dream, we launched the VinNest project to extend housing support to the most vulnerable—those who have lost their homes to natural disasters and those who are unable to complete construction due to financial distress. Over the past three years, we have successfully rebuilt and constructed nearly twenty homes across different regions. Many of these were for families affected by floods, landslides, and other calamities—helping them start over with dignity and hope. In other cases, VinNest stepped in to support families who had begun building their homes but were forced to abandon the work midway due to lack of resources. By identifying genuine needs and mobilizing local support, we were able to turn their halted dreams into completed realities. Through VinNest, we not only provide physical shelter but also offer emotional reassurance and stability to families from difficult social and economic backgrounds. The project continues to reflect our commitment to restoring dignity, fostering resilience, and walking alongside those who struggle to find a place they can truly call home.

Community Development Initiatives

De Care, being one among the project implementing agencies of the National NGO Confederation, successfully partnered in the execution of the Digital Transformation India program by distributing laptops for the students pursuing higher secondary and degree studies. Around 50 laptops were distributed as part of the project. With the support from the National NGO confederation, De Care implemented the "Women on Wheels" project by distributing Honda Activa scooters for women to empower them through creating easy mobility and accessibility.
